Add extra security to your Facebook account

If you are like me and want to have total control of your Facebook profile I suggest you use the Facebook ‘Login Notifications’ function. ‘Login Notifications’ sends you either an SMS or an email if a NEW computer or mobile device (this means another computer/mobile other than the one you use) logs into your account. Here is how you use the notification feature:

  • Log in to your Facebook account and navigate to ‘Account Settings’ (see top right hand corner near ‘log out’)
  • Scroll down and click ‘Account Security’ then set ‘Login Notifications’ to ‘on’ and then click SAVE
  • ALWAYS log out of your Facebook account – why? It is very easy to access a logged-in Facebook account using a wireless hotspot/network – so always be aware! Learn more about why

Facebook does announce these security improvements in the media from time to time, but like most things with security, we the general public only find out about these updates when it is too late or when our identity has been compromised.

Safe surfing folks!
